With the Deped Ligao City Division’s motto, BEST in LIGAO or Building Effective Schools Today via Learners Improvement & Growth in Achievements & Outcomes), the people of Ligao continue to obtain quality education with its programs and projects.

Ligao City hosts academic institutions in all levels—elementary, secondary, and tertiary level. Ligao City Division maintains a total of 49 public elementary schools and 10 secondary schools. Among the 49 public elementary schools, 37 of which serve residents in rural barangays, and the rest are located in urban barangays.

The LGU, on the other hand, sustains two higher learning institutions in the City, the Ligao Community College (LCC) and Information Technology Center (ITC).

Aside from the mentioned academic institutions under the LGU and DepEd Ligao City Division, there are also private schools in the City.

With an aim of making Ligao City as Center of Education in the third district of Albay, various projects slanted towards the improvement of education programs and construction of school building and facilities have undertaken by the City Government.

Public school facilities have been improved with the construction of additional classrooms, multi-purpose halls, school stage, multi-purpose pavements, covered walkways, school fences, new tables and chairs, offices and libraries.

Recently, through the efforts of the City Government, a three-storey building which serves as Ligao Arts and Technology Center was built. In addition, a two-storey building, with 32 classrooms was constructed in Brgy. Dunao. The Bicol Regional Science High School (BRSHS) was also granted with a library and an audio-visual building.

In addition to the construction of new buildings and school facilities, the City Government extends their service in providing students with school supplies. To date, there are 43,345 elementary pupils provided with school supplies, bags, and raincoats. Band instruments and computer units were also distributed to various public schools.

Aside from the efforts of the City Government to improve school facilities, they also recognize the need to enhance education programs. One of which is giving financial assistance and granting scholarship programs to underprivileged students. A total of 2,344 college students were given financial assistance and 1,678 were recognized as SPES beneficiaries. There were also a total of 1,251 TESDA enrollees for 2 yr. Certificate of Computer Hardware.

In order to extend education to everyone, even those in remote barangays, there are six satellite classes located in six barangays in addition to public schools stationed in barangays. Also recently, a class catering to special children was opened .
