Feliz Cumpleaño Ligao City!
Ligao City has celebrated its 11th cityhood anniversary last March 23-25, 2012.
On its march of activities, the celebration commenced with a Tree Planting Activity at Tula-Tula Pequeño enlisting a total number of 308 participants in conservation of Tula-Tula watershed.
The City cooperative and Development Office and the City Agriculture Office spearheaded the 3-day opening of booths and exhibits featuring Agri-Fair and LPG-SEEDS.
Meanwhile, to provide equal opportunities to persons with disabilities like normal individuals as contributors to the progress of the City, the City Social Welfare and Development Office chaired the PWD Mini-Olympics.Likewise,the said Office spearheaded the Eye and Ear Screening at the DepEd Complex.
In addition, the City Health Office led the lecture on Breast cancer catering 100 women. It targeted to increase its early diagnosis and reduce complications by providing early treatment and management by tackling the signs, symptoms, and predisposing factors. Also, Disease Caution Forum was held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Hall. One hundred senior citizens listened to Dr. Julian Salazar . Afternoon was the Cityhood Motorcade followed by the Pacunsuelo sa Ciudad (Teacher’s Mass Demo) at the City pavilion. The first da concluded with the Beer Plaza and the concert of the International Jazz Artist Boy Katindig at the Twin Peaks Resort, Ligao City.
Highlighting the second day was the Ms. Ligao 2012 Coronation Night featuring the balladeer singer Richard Poon. The purpose of the search is to raise funds for Ligao Women’s Club Socio-Civic projects in benefit of the marginalized and malnourished children ages 0-6. Ms Jeffany Rellorcasa II was crowned Ms. Ligao 2012. Prior to this, the Buntis Medical Mission to 150 women, Chess tournament, lecture on Sexually Transmitted Infections to pregnant women, the blessing of the breastfeeding room, the Grand Community Parade, Mt. Masaraga Challenge Part II, Cooking contest and Cityhood Babies race were held.
The last day slated the Mass Church Wedding at Catburawan, Ligao City . Said activity catered and reached out the less privileged Ligaoeños, especially those who are living in the coastal barangays and who could not afford to have a decent wedding ceremony. Moreover, other highlighted events were the Amazing Race and Laro ng Lahi participated by the city employees, barangay members and other stakeholders. Featured games for Laro ng Lahi were Pedicab and the Wheel Barrow Race, Cathing the Egg, Volleyball and Paligid-ligid Race. An awarding ceremony, aiming to promote blood donation among Ligaoeños was held as part of the cityhood celebration. The event concluded with the Battle of the Bands.
